West Australian Company Aquasol has built a transportable roll out water purification system to supply 10,000 people in poor out lying villages of Suriago, Philippines with clean bacteria free potable water. Aquasol designed, built and commissioned the water purification plant. The system was skid mounted to fit inside a 40’ sea container complete with 8000 metres of water distribution pipe and fittings. Once it arrived at the Philippines port in early September it was easily unloaded onto trucks for transportation to out lying area adjacent to a freshwater lake. Water in lake was known to be contaminated with Pathogenic Bacteria and Power to run a pump was not available so an innovative low cost solution was sought. Aquasol designed the system with an 11kw generator and pumps to supply water at 400kpa pressure with micro filtration and UV sterilisation to ensure water was free from bacteria and other pathogenic organisms. Water is now transported up to 3 km away from a Lake through a network of distribution lines. Aquasol donated the Skid water purification unit at cost (approximately $50000). Clean water is essential for children in the area who have been attending community nourishing centres to improve growth and health.
